Confused about ‘recession’. Why is stock market used as indicator of economic recovery, when their gain is made by laying off staff, cutting costs and rationalising. Dont understand. Reposessions, redundancys, defaults, bankruptcys-still rising as direct result of the ‘savings and increased profi’t from companies we use as indicator of economic ‘recovery’. Can someone smarter than me explain?

  1. I don’t get it either and I absolutely loathe companies laying off staff when they have made a profit, just not the profit they wanted. It’s just greedy and makes the problem worse. I’m also pissed off at repossessing homes, everyone knows there’s a problem, can’t they just come to an amicable payment arrangement for the time being until it gets better instead of just fucking people over to try and make a quick profit from resales?

    I don’t think I’ll ever make a good businesswoman.
