I read your article in the Guardian on 21 February “The female poverty trap”. I was pleased to read it because not enough is said about how these cuts etc will affect women, particularly mothers and therefore also their children. I am a mum with three young children. I am joining a Mothers March on 12 March 2011 to “End Cuts, poverty and discrimination”.The march is organised by the Global Women’s Strike (www.globalwomenstrike.net)and starts at noon at Trafalgar square. All are welcome. Please come and join us!

For weeks I have been trying to write a post, expressing how I feel about this coalition, and the difficulties in opposing them. Anyhow- Jonathon Freedland does it way better.
I took Rachel to a theme park yesterday. I have to say, it was very British. Peeling (occasionally creepy) fibreglass animals, animatronic dancing snowmen, staff who could have been dinner ladies at my school, and a cafe selling cups of tea in polystyrene cups that reinforced the drizzle and chill of a British summer day. [...]
